In God's church, leaders are not there to dominate or control but to encourage and guide the church family so that each member can discover their potential and their identity in God.
Leaders in God's eyes are like shepherds who watch over and protect the flock, with responsibility before God to create an environment where each person is safe and able to flourish and be fruitful in their life and faith.
They are responsible to set an example and to ensure that the truth about God is faithfully reflected in the church's teaching and practice.
Paul is an engineer by background and training, but a shepherd in his heart. He has been a church leader in various different roles for many years, and loves teaching people about the Bible and how putting it into practice really does work!
He leads New Creation Church, which was established in 2022. Paul, with his wife Samantha, loves hosting the church in their home in various ways, as well as in Loughborough Town Hall on most Sundays.
A Yorkshireman, originally from Hull, Paul is a dedicated Hull City supporter. (Well, someone has to be!) He has two children, five grandchildren, two grand-dogs and one demanding but much-loved cat.
In New Testament times, the churches in different locations were linked through relationships with travelling leaders who visited, wrote to them, offered guidance, help and sometimes correction where needed - always exercised through the love of God.
In New Creation Church, we recognise that we need this kind of outside help and accountability, to make sure we don't develop blind spots or any unhelpful habits. We also know that everyone needs the inspiration and difference of perspective that comes from healthy relationships with others. In the case of churches, this means input from seasoned leaders outside the local setting.
We are privileged to welcome apostolic leadership from Alan Scotland, the founder of Lifelink Global, who has served the church of Christ for over 50 years, and whose ministry and leadership is recognised and valued internationally and across the UK.
